Playing Games at Dice + Diversions
Q: How do I go about playing games at Dice +Diversions?
A: We offer our attendees a large area for open, casual gaming where you choose what you want to play, when you want to play it, and who you want to play your game of choice with.
Q: Do I have to bring my own games?
A: You’re welcome to bring your own games to play, but we have a large library of 1,000+ games you can check out at no additional cost to you. We encourage you to bring a game you love that you can teach to meet new people and share your passion with others, especially if we don’t already have the game in our library.
Q: Do you offer any organized play sessions with other people or groups?
A: Yes! Absolutely. We solicit submissions from other attendees and game designers to host play sessions. These will be posted closer to the event and will be available for you to sign up on a first-come, first-serve basis. Slots may be limited. Many of these sessions will be Learn-to-Play sessions so you can learn how to play a specific game.
Hosting Events/Teaching Games
Q: What is the difference between a Game Master and a Game Teacher?
A: Nothing really! We use the terms interchangeably at Dice + Diversions.
Q: What does “hosting an event” mean?
A: Hosting an event means you are leading/teaching a session, a game, workshop, or other activity at Dice + Diversions. Most of the events we have are game teaching sessions just like you might host one at your home, a friend’s home, or your FLGS. Depending on the number of people you have signed up for your session, you may be able to play as well.
Q: Do I have to host an event if I attend Dice and Diversions?
A: No, definitely not. However, hosting an event is purely optional, but it is an easy and fun way to not only contribute to Dice and Diversions, but also a great way to spread the love for your favorite games to a willing group.
Q: What is the process for submitting to be a game master/game teacher/event host?
A: Details on our NEW SYSTEM is coming soon.
Q: Why would I want to submit and host an event?
A: So many reasons…but here are our top 4: Share your knowledge and help the gaming community. Earn volunteer hours. Ensure you have a group to play your favorite game during the weekend. Make some new gaming friends.
Q: I’m a game designer and want to show off or play test my game. Can I do that at D+D?
A: Once you purchase your membership, you’ll be able to sign up for a 4-hour shift at one of our developer tables each day. Your game will be front and center at that table during your allotted hours—perfect for gathering feedback, rolling dice, and maybe even finding some new fans for your game. Closer to the event, we may have some additional time slots available depending on demand. Just let us know you registered and we can assist in getting you signed up. We allow some freedom to informally host sessions of your game (without the reservation system), but we do not allow play testers or designers to create multiple sessions per day nor squat at a table. If you want a more prominent opportunity to showcase your game, please sign up for a vendor table or booth.
